Ryan O’Connor Added to Team OHL Roster for the SUBWAY® Super Series

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Ontario Hockey League today announced that defenceman Ryan O’Connor of the Saginaw Spirit has been added to the Team OHL roster for the 2009 SUBWAY® Super Series game to be played in Windsor on Monday November 23, 2009.
 
O’Connor, a 17-year-old from Hamilton, ON, is playing in his second OHL season after being selected by the Barrie Colts sixth overall in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection.  He recently joined the Spirit in a trade with the Colts and has played in two games with his new club.  In 21 games this season he has two goals and 10 assists for 12 points.  O’Connor is eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and won gold with Team Canada’s Under-18 team at the 2009 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament.
 
O’Connor replaces defenceman Erik Gudbranson of the Kingston Frontenacs on the Team OHL roster.  Gudbranson will still compete as a member of Team OHL in the Subway Super Series game in Barrie on Thursday November 19, 2009.
 
The SUBWAY® Super Series is an integral part of the identification process for Canada’s National Junior Team final selection camp as regional teams of CHL All-Stars compete against the Russian National Junior Team. 
 
The 2009 SUBWAY® Super Series is supported by CHL associate sponsors, Bank of Montreal, NeilMed, and CCM, and will be broadcast nationally on Rogers Sportsnet with the two QMJHL games on RDS.
